HMDS (1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexamethyldisilazan) Silylierungsreagenz, zur GC-Derivatisierung
HMDS (1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexamethyldisilazan)
HMDS is weak TMS donor. If used as sole reagent, it is slow and not very effective. After addition of catalytic quantities (e.g., 1 %) of TMCS or as a mixture with TMCS it is a fast and quantitative reagent for trimethylsilylation of organic compounds.
- Silylation can be applied on many compounds
- Silylation reagents are easily prepared
- HMDS reagent mixed with TMCS catalyst shows fast and quantitative reaction
Aprotic solvents like acetonitrile, pyridine, dimethylformamide, carbon disulfide and dimethylacetamide are recommended for use with HMDS.
