Bromophenol blue is a tracking dye for alkaline and neutral buffer systems. It is used as a tracking dye in DNA, RNA (agarose) and protein (polyacrylamide) gel electrophoresis.
- Visual transition interval: pH 3,0 (yellow) to pH 4,6 (blue)
Bromophenol blue migrates at approximately the same rate as 300-500bp DNA in agarose gel and at the buffer front in protein polyacrylamide gels.
Soluble in water (30 mg/ml - clear, blueish violet solution) or ethanol (7 mg/ml).
