FGFR2 signaling is down-regulated by ubiquitination, internalisation and degradation. Mutations that lead to constitutive kinase activation or impair normal FGFR2 maturation, internalisation and degradation lead to aberrant signaling. Over-expressed FGFR2 promotes activation of STAT1.
